Bloom & Branch: Growing Healing, Community, and Connection Through Plants

🌿 Bloom & Branch: A Year of Roots, Resilience, and Rediscovery
Bloom & Branch didn’t begin with seeds—it began with a lonely broken heart, a shovel, and an overgrown bamboo patch that needed taming. I wasn’t trying to build a business then. I was trying to build myself. I was searching for quiet, peace, purpose, healing, something that made me feel accomplished again.
What I found was dirt.
And dirt, surprisingly, answered back.
I started with houseplants—tiny pockets of green that felt safe, manageable, alive. In the winter they were my company, my therapy, my distraction from cold days and heavy thoughts. I started bringing home the sad, forgotten plants- the clearance-rack orphans everyone had doomed and labeled no good. I nursed them back reviving them leaf by leaf, but what I didn't realize was they were reviving me too. Don't get me wrong- there were a few I killed outright, or maybe just assisted in their plant-suicide- and even though it stung, every loss taught me something. I took each lesson and carried it to the next attempt.
Before long, I started to feel grounded again, my roots started to settle in. My home became so full of plants my daughter swore she lived in a tropical rainforest- dramatic, I know. My friends and family thought I might have been a little bit crazy; I'm pretty sure a few of them were quietly plotting to have me committed.Â
But then Spring came around and suddenly I had a whole new place to grow. Before long I was harvesting cut flowers, and making daily trips to the post office with armfuls of packages- orders stacked up for shipping. Business was Bloomin'! And that's when people, including my own family and friends started to look at me a little differently...like, "Hey, she just might actually be able to do this."Â Â
And that’s honestly how Bloom & Branch was born.
Not from a business plan—
but from a heartbeat.
🌱 Growing Fast Because the Vision Was Bigger Than I Realized
Bloom & Branch didn’t grow slowly or quietly.
It grew fast because I grew fast. Because healing sometimes rushes in once you give it a place to land.
In our very first year, this tiny idea exploded into:
-
houseplants
-
cut flowers
-
native plants
-
foraged botanicals
-
saplings
-
propagation boxes
-
sustainable soil mixes
-
garden services
-
educational outreach
-
a developing community garden vision
Not because I intended to have all of that right away, but because each branch of the business formed naturally, like a plant doing what it was always meant to do once it finally had space.
Bloom and Branch isn’t just a shop, a nursery, or a farm. It’s a living ecosystem—one that changes with the seasons.
Houseplants in winter.
Nature in spring.
Gardens in summer.
Harvests, seeds, and roots in fall.
Bloom & Branch moves in the same rhythm as the land around us.
🌿 What We Stand For
Bloom & Branch is here to remind people:
-
There’s no such thing as a green thumb.
Only practice, patience, and a willingness to learn. I didn’t come into this knowing everything—I’ve killed more plants than I can count. But plants forgive quickly. They grow again. And so do we. -
Weeds aren’t always weeds.
Weeds isn't in our vocabulary, around here, they're "unrequested volunteers." Maybe mother nature sent them to fix a problem we didn't know of, maybe a bird pooped them out, either way they are part of the crew. -
The land can work with us.
Sustainable gardening, composting, native plants, foraging, and soil-building aren’t complicated—they’re ancient, intuitive practices that make everything easier in the long run. -
Community is the heart of growing.
I want to help restore the world I grew up in—the one where people shared garden harvests, swapped seeds, gifted cuttings, and didn’t hesitate to knock on a neighbor’s door.
Bloom & Branch is about helping people reconnect with the earth, with each other, and with the quiet parts of themselves that get drowned out in modern life.
🌼 A Vision That Reaches Beyond This Garden
My long-term dream is to establish a community garden where people can learn, grow, heal, and reconnect. A place supported by volunteers and fueled by shared abundance. A place where kids can dig in the dirt, where elders can pass down knowledge, and where anyone—not just “gardeners”—can feel welcome.
If Bloom & Branch has a personality, it’s this:
Hopeful. Rooted. Practical. Wild. Honest.
Eager to help. Eager to teach. Eager to grow.
We’re here to offer the tools, plants, knowledge, and encouragement that helped me when I needed it most. Whether it’s a houseplant, a seedling, a native plant, a wild-foraged botanical, or just inspiration to try something new—our goal is to help you grow something beautiful, inside and out.
🌱 If You’re Here, You’re Part of Our Story Now
Bloom & Branch grew out of the dirt, and out of a heart that needed healing.
Now it grows for the community, for the pollinators, for the planet, and for the people who want to rediscover what nature can offer.
